Pounding The Pavement Recap

From East Coast to West Coast from North to South to Alaska and Italy, our Virtual 9th Annual Pounding the Pavement for Pink was beyond our expectations! What the pandemic has taken from us, in so many ways can never be replaced, BUT along the way there have been silver linings; moments, opportunities, for us to come together in spirit and in hope! This year’s Pounding the Pavement for Pink truly exemplifies that SPIRIT and HOPE! The photos and videos of what took place over this last four-day weekend is beyond imagination! In every photo, in every video, you can FEEL the sense of togetherness! You can SEE the hope and the spirit of our great community, of our great country! Going virtual may sound like an easy decision, but it wasn’t! Even more difficult was planning for it! Seymour Pink has always been blessed with an abundance of dedicated, committed volunteers. This year’s virtual Pounding the Pavement for Pink committee made it happen! I want to personally think Dawn Supranovich! Without her incredible leadership, sense of calm and commitment to our community, none of this would’ve happened. Also on our committee was Kathy Supranovich who was there for us, bringing us her Disney magic whenever we needed something special done. Chris Adamo who gave us a safe place to meet and plan this entire event. Trudy Ginsburg my media director, who covered so many of the team events planned over these last 4 days! Lastly, Christine Conroy who came on board this year and made the virtual REAL! She was there every minute of every hour of every...

2020 T-Shirt Design

Our Annual Seymour Pink Pasta Dinner was scheduled for tonight…it is a very special night when we recognize and honor our many loved ones who have heard the breast cancer diagnosis. Special raffles donated in honor and memory of those who have fought the FIGHT are raffled off with a little story about each loved one! Seymour Pink has its roots in this fundraiser! It is ALWAYS a sell out evening hosted by Sara and Gary Morgatto of Brookside Inn. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, this is yet another one of our fundraisers that has had to be put on the “back burner” for a while. However, there is one event that takes place this night that we CAN celebrate tonight. Each year we ask students to submit artwork for the Annual Seymour Pink T-shirt contest. The winner of the T-shirt contest along with his/her design is revealed this night and is given a $500 scholarship. The design is printed on over 2000 tee shirts! So, although we cannot hold our pasta dinner and cannot celebrate our breast cancer warriors, we can reveal, tonight, the new design and the winner of this contest. Congratulations goes to Olivia Kick! When Olivia submitted her design she shared the meaning of her design. She gives credit to her grandmother! Her grandmother was a nurse. Her grandmother always said to her, “HOPE is the big idea and if you don’t have hope, you don’t have anything“. She said the ribbon with people walking toward it reminded her of HOPE, the hope her grandmother spoke of! Congratulations Olivia your message is a powerful message...

An Update from Mary Deming

First, and most importantly, I hope you are doing well and safe during this incredibly difficult time of uncertainty. We are experiencing such a rapid change in our normal day-to-day activities. Our typical day to day routines have been altered drastically. For most, if not all of us, nothing seems “normal.” For Seymour Pink our mission has not changed. We will continue to financially assist those victimized by the breast cancer diagnosis as best we are able to do. Unfortunately, with the social distancing that we MUST all practice, our income will be greatly impacted over these next few months. As a result, so will our available funds we rely on to help financially assist our breast cancer patients As much as we would like nothing more than to return to hosting our fundraisers, in order to raise funds to support our mission, practicing social distancing and the guidelines set in place by Federal, State and Local officials is an ABSOLUTE MUST! Although these are difficult times, unpredictable times, they are TEMPORARY times! EACH day brings us opportunities to come together in SPIRIT, to continue to be there for others by spreading HOPE and PROMISE that on the other side of this, we will be TOGETHER again, joining hands and hearts as one! To all of our incredibly dedicated volunteers, supporters, sponsors, and our brave and courageous breast cancer survivors, we are forever grateful for your commitment to Pink. From all of us at Seymour Pink, to each and every one of you, may you stay safe, and healthy! Mary Deming Founder/President Seymour Pink, Inc. www.seymourpink.com...

8th Annual Pounding the Pavement for Pink recap

I think there are 3000 people waking up this morning, like me, trying to find the words to describe the sights and sounds of yesterday and their impact on each of us. For me, it’s IMPOSSIBLE! No words can touch yesterday! We had need of 3 generators yesterday. But we had a fourth, YOU! YOUR presence yesterday was the most powerful Generator of all! Your presence sparked support, human kindness, courage, love and so much belief in the FIGHT against this barbaric disease! This event can NOT happen without a COMMUNITY UNITED in the FIGHT. So many people make this happen! Our AMAZING volunteers, My Incredibly DEDICATED board members and officers! My media director, Trudy Ginsburg, for always being there to “calm the waters” and get our mission out there! Dawn Supranovich and her “let’s get it done” crew! All of our VERY Generous sponsors (we had all of “veteran” sponsors back and 5 new ones)!!! The donations of food (120 pizzas from Rose’s Family Restaurant, 60 ponds of bananas from Stop and Shop, over 80 gallons of Starbucks coffee and Hot chocolate and 1600 cake pops. Lord only knows how many cups of that incredible ice cream from Ice Cream Emergency? How about the Original Greek yogurt from Stani Dairy… now that was delicious… we need to get that yogurt carried by our local grocery stores!!! Bakery on Main donated over 1200 bags of cranberry maple flavored granola!!! Dragonflies Flora for designing and donating 175 corsages for our breast cancer survivors! Caspari for donating lovely gifts for our breast cancer survivors! The police department was there in full...

Seymour Baseball Pink Game 2019

Yesterday, the Seymour High School Wildcat baseball team had their pink game against Oxford. In any competition there is always a winner and a loser; this game was no different, but in the end both teams are winners because as a result of their support in the fight against breast cancer, $350 was raised! That is incredible! Thank you to everyone who organized this PINK baseball...

2019 Pink Night To Remember

So many people to thank so many things get done behind the scenes that most of us never realize are done in order to make it last night happened. Quite honestly last night was the best pink night to remember ever – over the top and excitement in electricity and energy in support of those who have been victimized by the breast cancer diagnosis. The banners that hang at the Waterview over 200 of them were hung by A team of 2!!! A very special thank you to my husband Bruce and Nick Vartko for all they do for us at every event! Adam Rivers… No One Better!!!! Trevor Anthony … very special thank you! The swag bag committee put to gather an incredible bag of gifts for our survivors. Such a moving moment last night when the survivors were recognized …the standing ovation that they received speaks loudly of the love and the support this community has for them. We are in awe of their courage, their strength, their will, their determination! As I walked around and met so many of you , I am humbled buy your support of our nonprofit organization. And for those of you that shared stories With me, I will bring those stories to our board! It was honestly, in my opinion the very best we have ever had. The night was so special that no words Adequately describe the night. I believe that every person who left there last night left energized and inspired by the love and the hope and energy in the room. To Art and Fred the sound system...
